I thought it was time to have a photo session with this adorable little one. I am always taking photos of her two big brothers, but now it was her time!
This little one is the most precious, adorable, loving and sweet girl. Form the first time I met her, she put her arms out for me to pick her up, and she gave me a big hug.
I asked her, 'why are you eating your hair?'. She replied, "because it tastes good".
"The whole point of taking pictures is so that you don’t have to explain things with words" -Elliot Erwitt
Sweet child, you have the best smile ever!
Of course we had to change into a few different outfits, getting shots inside and outside as well.
The portrait above is of course my favorite of all the photos. I love her look here in the window light. I'm not sure what she was looking at, but I love it!
I recently did some photos with this awesome kid! I had some things I wanted to experiment with, and had the idea to turn him into a 'lost boy'.
I love hanging out with this kid!
In this shot above, I held a small crystal up to the lens, once focused on my subject. That is how I got the bit of a cloudy look in the corner.
In the shot below, I had some foil on the right side of my subject, to see what type of reflection I would get.
The photo above (and below), I held a prism near the top and side of the lens, to see what type of reflection I would get. The photo above is my favorite!
This kid loves singing the song 'Lost Boy' by the artist, Ruth B. As I was taking these last shots, he started singing the lyrics.
"I am a lost boy from Neverland
Usually hanging out with Peter Pan
And when we're bored we play in the woods
Always on the run from Captain Hook
"Run, run, lost boy," they say to me,
"Away from all the reality."
Neverland is home to lost boys like me
And lost boys like me are free..." (Lost Boy by Ruth B)
I had a lot of fun making time to take some shots of this growing kid!
Oh how I had missed taking photos of Hayes. With them living next to me before, I would have the chance to take photos of him often. Now with not seeing him as much, I made sure I took the opportunity and make time to hang out with him.
This kid is growing up so fast! I hadn't seen him in around 9 months and he had really changed.
He is seriously a natural in front of that camera, that's for sure! And I love his blue eyes!
Often, when I would take photos of him, he would talk to me, tell me stories, ask me questions...
Hayes, thanks for hanging with me while I was in town. Thanks for the stories, laughs and love.
Yet again, I got to work with this awesome kid!! Since last wee,k I've been working on some personal projects with him as well as his older brother.
It was a bit of an adventure getting to this location for this photo session. I knew I wanted to shoot in the creek, where there was an area of rocks near the water edge. But, to get to those rocks, the water was past my ankles. I was about to go and find another path to the rocks with J and his brother forged their way across the creek, making a rock path for me to walk across. These boys are awesome!!

"My meaning simply is, that whenever I have tried to do in life, I have tried with all my heart to do well; that whatever I have devoted myself to completely; that in great aims and in small, I have always been thoroughly in earnest." - Charles Dickens, David Cooperfield
I have done any photography work with this kid in at least over a year. I was glad to have some time with him yesterday to do this session. I hope to do more in the near future, this kid is amazing to work with and is so much fun!

"Creativity is a state of mind brought about by creating."
I had this idea for Jo, and of course he loved it!!
I let his personality totally come out in this session!!
This kid is seriously the funniest little 3 year old ever!!!
And he loves looking at his photos...he smiles and gives a little laugh. And whenever he sees my headphones that he sued in these photos...he tells me, those are the things I was listening to music with!!!
With this little guy turning 2, I had to take some new photos...and he did an amazing job!
If you have never met Vonn, you will most likely get to know him through these photos, his personality is awesome and so much fun!!
This kid LOVES dancing!!! As I was taking photos, I asked him if he wanted to listen to some music and dance...he answered yes, and started singing. I put on one of his favorite songs to dance to...and as you can see here, he really gets into it!
Keep smiling Vonn!!! You bring joy to all those around you!
Yesterday we had the privilege to celebrate Vonn's 2nd birthday!!!
He is seriously one amazing kid!!! He is funny, and has the best character and personality I have seen!! He's always full of joy and laughter, he can always make you smile!
My sister has been Vonn and his big brother's nanny, since his big brother was about 2. They are like family to us, they come over all the time to play.
As you can see in this photo above, he has some awesome funny, exciting faces!! Like I said, I LOVE his personality, so much fun!!! He was so excited opening up his presents and loving them all.
I think my sister deserves the 'Nanny of the Year' award for making Vonn's amazing 'dirt' cake!! He loved it...even playing in it!! I mean come on, a cake you can play with and eat!!!
When Vonn comes over to the house, if you give him a mop or broom, he loves to help clean!! So, my grandmother got him his own mop...and it was a hit!!!
I had this idea to do with Elijah since sometime last year. I came across a photo one day that inspired me to come up with this idea.
It look me a while to find the right material I needed for the costume. I ended up ordering it online. I designed the costume and my Grandmother made it...she's pretty amazing!
I also wanted a specific hat. I was in a store last year in a small town in Georgia, and once I saw it, I knew I had to get it, it was just what I was looking for!

I sometimes have to remind myself to not stop creating. There are times when I get discouraged, especially when work is slow, but I can't give up. I can't just stop, but my mind is always at work, ideas are coming all the time, and I need to continue to create.
Hayes and I over to the corn field, went exploring, and took some photos. I played around with some natural light with a speedlite. Some are all natural, some have the speedlite lighting him as well, like the one below.
'Progress how you see, think and just push further and dive deeper into whatever is in front of you, so you're not just taking a photo that you've taken before' -Jake Stangel I want to keep this quote in mind as I continue to create, to keep pushing and diving deeper in photography.

'A good photograph is one that communicates a fact, touches the heart and leaves the viewer a changed person for having seen it. It is in a word effective'. -Irving Penn

I'm not sure what it is, but I have this strange love for flags....I love implementing them into my photography at times. I had this idea the other day, so found some scraps and made this flag seen in these photos.
I saw this photo a while back, of a young man holding a large piece of material, standing in a field. I really thought the photo was cool, but I wanted to think of my own thing. I have a field across the street from my house, and what about using some type of flag!! I also had different ideas and shots I was looking for, with this specific session.
With using an off camera flash as well and some natural light, I wanted to get a darker, moody effect as well, which I believe I accomplished in these shots,
Of course I wanted to use my water sprayed plastic effect as well. This is the first time I've used it outdoors. I usually use this for more headshot but not full body shots. I wanted to experiment with using it outside and with the full subject as well. This was my favorite using the plastic!

Recently, I did a session with Elijah in his Boy Scouts uniform. Working with Elijah, you never know what's gonna happen. This kid is so fun to work with!
Sometimes I get his goofy side, and sometimes his serious side! It would have been great to have made a video of this session, seeing him being himself in the photos as well as in between the photos. He made me laugh a lot!
I wasn't planning on taking photos in the corn field, but once I saw it, I thought I had to get some shots! Elijah loved it! And if I would have let him, he would have ran throughout those fields.
Thanks Elijah for letting me capture these photos! And keep up the good work in Boy Scouts!!
I have been wanting to do this session for a while now. I'm glad I was able to accomplish it today, thanks to my great model!! I haven't worked on a regular session with this guy in a while. It's been too long I think, I've missed working with him. He's so much fun to be around and is so photogenic. He's one of the few that can really pull off exactly what I have in my mind.
We went down to the creek to get these shots. It's nice to have one in walking distance. I wasn't sure if there would be any water in it, and I'm glad that there was.
I took the first shots with just natural light, but than halfway through, I added the off camera flash with an umbrella. I like both, but I think of all the shots, I prefer the ones with the flash.
I seriously love the expressions I get with him, to get some of his personality is awesome!
Of the entire session, I think this one above, is my favorite. I love the lighting on this one (flash), and I love his serious expression. He really can give me a great serious face when asked.
I'm looking forward to working him more in the future, as well as with his little brother and sister.
I can't believe this little guy is already one year!! I remember when I took his photos when he was just one week old, and than at 6 months old, and now one year. He's not only adorable and cute, but so funny and fun to be around. Yes, he will keep you on your toes (just ask my sister, his nanny), but he is seriously the sweetest and happiest little guy.
