I wasn’t sure how I was going to be, going down into the salt mines, knowing it was around 400 feet below….but once I saw how big and spacious it is down there, I was too much in awe to freak out!!
The Salina Turda salt mines are located in the Transylvania region of Romania. A couple friends and I took the time to explore the mines a bit one day.
This mine produced salt dated back to year 1075 and stopped working back in 1932. It opened up to the public for tourism in 1992.
From 2008 to 2010, it was closed for remodeling, bringing a more modernized look to it.
You could actually rent these little boats and go around the water down in the mines.
As you can see in this shot above, they have a small Ferris wheel down there to ride.
