The Hawkeye State.

Back in April I went on a road trip with some of my family to visit my sister up in Iowa. Along the way, we stopped in St. Louis and Hannibal MO.

I enjoyed hanging out in Hannibal, as it was Mark Twain's hometown, and he's one of my favorite classic authors.

We walked up to the lighthouse and roamed the cold quiet streets.

I wouldn't mind going back to Hannibal again one day, and do a little more exploring.

The first few days in Des Moines, we did a lot of tourist things over the weekend, getting in all the cool sites.

We went to the Capitol building and it was pretty cool! Learned a little bit more of the history of Des Moines and enjoyed the great architecture.

Another place that was pretty cool was an outdoor art sculpture park. A lot of them were pretty eccentric, but a lot of fun to look at.

One day we drove over to Winterset, where the film, Bridges of Madison County was filmed. We had the opportunity to pop into the adorable diner where they filmed parts of the movie. We arrived right as they were closing up, but the owner let us in to have a look, and told us all about the place.

This cute little home above is where John Wayne was born!

I'm always mesmerized by photos of roads, I love taking them!

While we were there, we were able to get in a hockey game, thanks to our friends! We had seats right on the glass and even saw a fight break out!!

I had a lot of fun as well spending time with Hayes and Vonn and capturing as many moments as I could!

Vonn is seriously the funniest kid ever! Almost the entire time I was visiting, he always had his Spidey outfit on!!

I was glad to have the opportunity to get some shots of the boys while I was there. I wanted to take as many as I could, since I don't know when I'll see them next.

Until next time Hawkeye State!
