It wasn't until last summer when I went to my first Nashville Sounds game here in Tennessee. I don't really know why I never went before that though, since I love baseball, as well as my family. We are used to going to MLB games when we were kids, but still going to minor league games are fun. And of course I had to continue going to the games this summer as well.
I remember last summer going to the game, it had been years since I've actually been to a ball game. Well, besides some tee-ball games.
As soon as I sat in my seat, the fun childhood memories literally rushed back to me. I remember my parents taking us kids to games in California (Giants, maybe Angels and Dodgers, can't remember for sure), and Washington (Mariners). I remember going to the Giants and Mariners, especially the Mariners.
We would go often on the kids days, when they had free gifts for the kids. We collected the little mini plastic ice cream cups, mini bats, balls, and special baseball cards. I remember even one time at the Giants game, I got a full size plastic helmet.
There were times when we caught many balls, and even got a cracked bat from one of the players. Sometimes we were early for a game and were able to meet some of the players and get their autograph on some baseballs.
I wouldn't say our family were/are baseball fanatics, but it's probably the main sport that we all enjoy watching together. And I honestly have so many great memories at those games as a kid. I hope to one day see some of those MLB games again. For now, I will settle for the Sounds games.
