So, I had been wanting to find some colored cellophane paper and experiment with some photography stuff. I found some yesterday, at the dollar store, so I picked up some red.
For the first experiment, I took the roll of cellophane, had it hanging up, about 3 feet away from my background, and put a piece of wood on the other end so it wouldn't blow away. I then put a fan blowing on it, to get a bit of a ripple effect.
Once I got some shots like that, I took the paper down, and cut a strip off the bottom. I took a small piece and covered my flash, to see what effect that would give me.
It didn't give me the effect I was hoping for, so I added a bit of the paper to the end of my lens. This gave it even more color, spread out evenly, and what I was looking for. I know there are different colored gels you can get to cover your flash, and there are colored filters for your lens as well. But hey, I like experimenting with things, and why not with some red cellophane paper that only cost $1!
I eventually want to experiment more with this paper, and try other colors. Though you can't see the color of the paper in the black and white shots, I still favor some of those over the colored. I have always loved black and white photos, and these just have an old school feel to them. This last one, below, makes me think of an old 35mm film photo.
So, get out there and experiment, have fun!
